Biography

Marcela RosembergI was born, raised and educated in the heart of the huge and cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, capital city of Argentina. I have been involved in various art forms all my life. Art has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. My first teacher in the art of fusing glass was Rita Neumann, who not only gave me the techniques that formed the building blocks of my work today but also helped me to spread my wings and fly. When I first experienced this technique, I realized that fusing glass was like magic, fun and creativity all together, and that this was going to be my every day source of energy. “And it is!”   Sergio GolodI have been enjoying my passion for glass from an early age and my relationship with it is not a coincidence. In old Europe people used to choose their surname according to their skills or geographical location. My mother's maiden name is Glazer, reflecting the long tradition and skill of her ancestors in the working of glass. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I learned the many glass skills in the family business. I have always found it appealing to develop unusual and challenging works in both hot and cold glass. It is a legacy, passed down from generation to generation.that I am proud to continue.

Education & Training

Our dream of a new lifestyle in Canada came true through our glass working skills and contemporary design. In December 2003 together with our children, Brian and Sharon, we settled in beautiful Prince Edward Island. The journey from our home land, Argentina, to this latitude required a large step from one end of the American Continent to the other. It was a great challenge. Glass and the fusing of our cultural backgrounds are partially responsible for the unique ability to conceive and design our art work. We emigrated from Buenos Aires to our new home where our creativity has opened a new and exciting chapter in our relationship with glass. We are producing unique and customized fused glass pieces. Fused glass technique is quite extraordinary and dates back to the ancient artisans of Egypt. It starts with at least two layers of glass and often involves many more. The kilns then are heated to at least 1450 degrees Fahrenheit, at which point the pieces fuse together and become only one. At our studio we are looking for that special blend of colours and textures. Our deep understanding of how glass reacts is of considerable help to us, as we move further into the research and development of our art form.
