Biography

Anne Gallant is an Acadian, originally from Abram’s Village, P.E.I. After graduating from Evangeline High School, she studied Arts History at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, and then went on to study Graphic Design at the George Brown College of Arts & Technology in Toronto.

Being an adventurous person, Anne spent a few years traveling around western Canada and spent a total of five years working in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. These were years of great experiences and personal growth, her work has been greatly influenced by the art she has collected from these countries.

In the late 1990’s, Anne spent some time in Ontario where she studied watercolour and oil painting at the Buckhorn Gallery in Buckhorn, Ontario. After this she exhibited her artwork at several prominent galleries in Prince Edward Island and one in New Brunswick. Three years ago, she left her job to paint full-time; she opened a gallery-coffee shop sold over 300 paintings in two years. The demand for her work is such that she has sold her coffee shop and is now focusing all her energies to her painting.

“Your hands are made of gold, all you have to do is apply yourself”. A comment made to Anne on graduation day from her Art Drawing instructor June Hendera at George Brown College of Art in Toronto. Anne Gallant absolutely loves to paint and is now living her dream, making a living as an artist. The natural beauty of Prince Edward Island is her greatest inspiration, the colours, the shoreline, the lighthouses and old barns. You can find Anne's work at the Mermaid Gallery in Charlottetown and Spinnakers Landing in Summerside where a gallery will be opened to feature her work.

1995 - Marketing for Small business – College de l’Acadie, Wellington PE –
Ten weeks study on developing and implementing marketing strategy
for promoting a small business to the local and national markets.
