Biography

Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada 1952. Painter, extended stays in New York and Switzerland, lives and works in Prince Edward Island, national and international exhibition activities. The paintings are in a figurative tradition with an emphasis placed on an even balance between form and content. The work contains elements of social commentary sometimes employing satire. A more universal reading of the work alludes to isolation and alienation in today’s society. Numerous solo exhibitions in North America and Europe, recent projects include the completion of a commission for the Confederation Centre Art Gallery in connection with a solo exhibition, participation at the Toronto International Art Fair, “Atlantic Transit”, artists from Atlantic Canada, art Karlsruhe, Germany. The paintings are in public, corporate and private collections in North America and Europe.

Education & Training

Education:

Studied design at Holland College (1971-73), and Fine Art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (1974). Grant awards from the P.E.I.Council of the Arts and the Canada Council for the Arts. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
